On the third of Januari the newyears races were held on Circuit Park Zandvoort. It was a cold day and the snow the previous days had fallen made the track wet and slippery. With blowtorches the crew cleaned the track of ice as good as they could. It delayed the start of the race a bit, which gave us the oppurtunity to scout the pitboxes to see what kind of cars were driving along in this four-hour endurance race.
And the line-up we found of cars was amazing. Professional crews with track-prepped cars were waiting patiently on the green light to start the race. BMW's, DNRT V8's, Porsches and more filled the pit lane. But also a Honda S2000, Renault Megane and Mitsubishi EVO were spotted. A crazy line-up of cars.
The race was hectic, the track grew slippery over the first hours again when the sun started to go down. Several cars didn't make it of the track in one piece. At the end of the day Team Bleekemolen had won with their Porsche 997 GT3 driven by Sebastiaan Bleekemolen and Ronald van der Laar. Runner-ups were Huub Vermeulen and Frits hessing due to a penalty. The Sotrax Albert Motorsport team ended up on a third place.
We ourselves were there to cover the new Team JCP's EVO.
The car didn't make it till the end of the race unfortunatly. 20 minutes too soon the car had to give up because of a mechanical problem. During the race it also got a bit banged up. We certainly hope to see this car from Team JCP make an appearance during the dutch Time Attack this season.
